New Silverado Memory Care Community Opens in Virginia
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (PRWEB) June 06, 2018 -- Late last month in Alexandria, Virginia, Silverado opened a new memory care community designed specifically to maximize quality of life for as many as 66 people with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and other memory-impairing conditions. This new state-of-the-art memory care community was built by Cambridge Healthcare under a management agreement with Silverado.
Already in high demand, Silverado Alexandria – located at 2807 King Street, near Old Town – is now fully open and accepting new residents under the expert leadership of Kathryn Hilburn M.S., Administrator.
The three-story community with underground parking features indoor space specifically designed to meet the unique needs of the memory impaired, as well as outside space purposefully built to give residents freedom to enjoy the outdoors. The overall design serves to bring the Silverado experience to residents and their families, providing individuals with dignity, respect and the best quality of life possible.
“Our new Alexandria community marks a milestone in that Silverado has now brought its services to the East Coast, something that we have been asked to do for many years,” says Silverado President, CEO and Chairman Loren Shook. “Our entire team is energized by the opportunity to bring the Silverado quality of life for the memory impaired in Alexandria, a care model that has resulted in the best clinical outcomes across our industry and truly changes lives.”
Each Silverado community combines world-class clinical care – supported by around-the-clock licensed nurses, a 1:1 staff to resident ratio, and a designated physician medical director, in a welcoming and engaging social model environment – with industry-leading programs. Recently the company developed Nexus, a program for individuals with early-stage memory loss, based on research showing that there may be ways to enhance the functional level of those with dementia and to slow the progression of the disease process. Already, Nexus has transformed lives.
Graham Adelman, Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge, states, “Initially, when Cambridge conceived the community on King Street, our intention was to manage its operation ourselves. After visiting Silverado communities, evaluating their model of care, and watching Silverado’s staff interact with residents and their families, we changed our mind. Silverado’s accomplishments in caring for those with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia are remarkable, recognized by academicians and physicians internationally, and well documented. Cambridge is pleased and excited that Silverado chose Alexandria for the location of its first community on the East Coast. We look forward to working with Silverado to increase awareness in Northern Virginia of what is truly possible for those with cognitive decline.”
Cambridge will remain the operator of Alexandria’s Woodbine Rehabilitation & Healthcare and will be the licensed operator of the memory care community, which Silverado will be managing.
The development teams worked with many local suppliers and businesses to create the new community, contributing to dozens of construction jobs and local spending, while creating more than 65 new healthcare jobs – once at full capacity.
Families, healthcare professionals and members of the local community are welcome to drop by for a visit or call to learn more. A grand opening celebration will take place on Wednesday, July 25 from 4pm-7pm. For more information, please call (703) 215-9110.
