National Safety Council Designates June as National Safety Month #No1GetsHurt
DUBLIN, Calif. (PRWEB) June 07, 2018 -- The OSHA Training Institute Education Center at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District, the only OSHA authorized OTI Education Center headquartered in Northern California, is urging employers, workers, community leaders and the general public to observe National Safety Month by renewing their commitment to creating safer communities for all. Sponsored annually in June by the National Safety Council, National Safety Month focuses on reducing the leading causes of injury and death at work, on the road and in our homes and communities.
“The OSHA Training Institute Education Center is promoting the NSC’s National Safety Month as part of our commitment to eliminating workplace injury and death,” says Cari Elofson, Assistant Director of the OSHA Training Institute Education Center at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District. “Raising awareness among employers and workers of the importance of safety training and best work practices helps us further OSHA’s mission that all workers return home safely each day.”
The theme of this year’s National Safety Month is “No 1 Gets Hurt.” The National Safety Council is highlighting a different safety topic for each week in June:
- Week 1: Emergency Preparedness
- Week 2: Wellness
- Week 3: Falls
- Week 4: Driving
The NSC has also created a list of suggestions to help spread the safety message and encourage participation in National Safety Month, including:
- Provide safety training
- Create bulletin boards, newsletters or blog posts
- Hold a safety trivia contest with weekly prizes
- Make an activity out of identifying hazards where you work and live
- Throw a safety fair, lunch ‘n learn or celebratory luncheon
- Share posts on your social media channels using #No1GetsHurt
The OSHA Training Institute Education Center encourages participation in National Safety Month as part of a renewed commitment to improved safety for all.
