Next Tier is developing the HPCC for DataBank (http://www.DataBank.com ) as one part of the larger Coda development located in Technology Square (http://Codatechsquare.com). The Coda development includes a 645,000 square foot office tower that is being separately developed by Portman Holdings and the 100,000 square foot HPCC. Both the office tower and the adjoining HPCC are being anchored by the Georgia Institute of Technology (“Georgia Tech”).

Next Tier’s development team consists of Gensler – Baltimore office (http://www.gensler.com ) for architectural, kW Mission Critical Engineering (http://www.kwmce.com ) for mechanical and electrical engineering, DPR (http://www.dpr.com ) as General Contractor, and MGAC (http://www.mgac.com ) for project management.

Kevin Ooley, President, DataBank says, “As a graduate of Georgia Tech, it is a double honor to be both the owner and the operator of the HPCC. We are proud to be associated with the unique project and we appreciate all that Next Tier has done to bring the HPCC to this point.”

Coda was driven by Georgia Tech’s vision for a public/private collaboration to extract new technologies and businesses from rapidly growing pools of research data. Researchers working in the adjacent office tower will have direct, high speed fiber links to Georgia Tech’s latest fleet of super computers located in the HPCC, proprietary applications and datasets, as well as the on-site expertise of Georgia Tech’s academic community.

According to the HPCC Development Director, Jim Coakley, “The team has enjoyed working with Georgia Tech, Portman Holdings and DataBank in the development of the HPCC, and we all look forward to seeing what future discoveries emerge out of Georgia Tech’s newly minted high performance computing center.”

The first 3.2 megawatts of critical power and cooling for the HPCC will be completed in the First Quarter of 2019, of which 1.2 megawatts are available for lease. Thereafter, DataBank will grow capacity in 1.7 megawatts increments up to a minimum of 8.3 megawatts of total capacity.
