Pretty Mommies Discusses Natural Skin Care vs Synthetic
ORLANDO, Fla. (PRWEB) June 20, 2018 -- The past several years have brought about a significant increase in demand for natural skin care products; much like the natural and organic food industry which is trending in the same direction. According to Persistence Market Research the revenue generated from the global natural and organic personal care products market was valued at US$ 12.1 billion in 2017 and is expected to be valued at US$ 29.5 billion by the end of 2028.
The demand is high because consumers are concerned about the potential dangers associated with common synthetic ingredients found in their personal care products. Therefore, they’re becoming more educated, reading labels and better understanding ingredients. Because of this their purchasing decisions have drastically changed.
When discussing natural skin care a question that almost always arises is whether or not natural products can offer equal or better results than their chemical counterparts? “Due to being a pregnancy skin care line we had to be natural and use high quality ingredients. We also had to be effective,” explains Gina Gordy, President and Founder of Pretty Mommies Skin Care. “What’s most fascinating to me is the perception that natural skin care is not as effective as synthetic. Countless studies have been conducted on ingredients such as Vitamin C, Niacinamide and Lactic Acid that have shown extremely favorable benefits.”
Interestingly enough, some of the chemical ingredients being used in topical products today have come under scrutiny on whether or not they’re damaging instead of improving the skin. For instance, in the Journal of the American College of Toxicology they state that the common ingredient sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), “had a degenerative effect on the cell membranes because of its protein denaturing properties.”
“Sodium laurel sulfate is a known skin irritant and has restrictions in every health ministry including our own,” explains Gordy. “We didn’t use it in our pregnancy face wash and instead used Vegetable Glycerin. This is a perfect example of a natural ingredient that is used to replace a chemical one, which in turn causes no irritation and leaves your skin clean and soft without any negative effects.”
Just as dietary changes and daily servings of certain food groups have changed in recent years, encouraging a more plant based diet, we’re beginning to see the same changes in skin care. Synthetic skin care may become a thing of the past, just like processed food someday. Safe, natural and healthy skin care is the way of the future.
