Traveling can be fun and adventurous, but it's critical to be prepared in any situation for your family’s safety. Enjoy the journey, but expect the unexpected.

“Being caught in the middle of a military coup or being attacked by villagers with machetes during a robbery may sound extreme, but can happen in a heartbeat,” the author states.

A native of New Orleans, Kristian Pedersen worked as a geologist for 35 years in the oil industry. He spent 22 years of that living and working overseas in family resident assignments. He is also an established singer-songwriter and musician.
