Ball Janik LLP Partner Ciaran Connelly was elected President of the Northwest District Association (NWDA) on May 21, 2018. The NWDA is a city-recognized neighborhood association that represents portions of northwest Portland, and advocates on behalf of neighborhood residents and businesses by facilitating communication with the City of Portland, its bureaus, commissions and City Council on affairs affecting the character of the neighborhood and its quality of life.

The Northwest District Association (NWDA) is a city-recognized neighborhood association that represents portions of northwest Portland. NWDA advocates on behalf of neighborhood residents and businesses by facilitating communication with the City of Portland, its bureaus, commissions and City Council on affairs affecting the character of the neighborhood and its quality of life for a vibrant, welcoming, and livable Northwest neighborhood.

As an attorney, Ciaran Connelly uses his broad litigation experience to draft agreements that discourage or prevent future disputes. When litigation is necessary, Mr. Connelly uses his business acumen to craft strategies that best achieve his clients’ business goals. Clients praise Mr. Connelly’s ability to efficiently distill complex legal issues into practical advice.
Mr. Connelly’s experience ranges from advising angel investors and helping startup businesses form to advising businesses on developing standard agreements and representing established companies and investors in multi-billion-dollar litigations. In each case, Mr. Connelly’s focus remains on understanding a business’s goals and helping the business achieve those goals efficiently.

Mr. Connelly was recognized on the Oregon Rising Stars list in 2017 by Super Lawyers Magazine. Before joining Ball Janik, Mr. Connelly worked as an associate at two prominent New York law firms, where he handled diverse matters ranging from complex commercial lease and contract cases to mass–tort and insurance disputes, to regulatory and compliance investigation and defense.

In addition to serving as the president of the Northwest District Association, Mr. Connelly serves on the Executive Committee of the Oregon State Bar's Business Litigation Section and is a member of the American Bar Association, the Multnomah Bar Association, Oregon Women Lawyers, and the Dartmouth Lawyers Association.
