Cloud HR platform uses AI to fight bias, not codify it, during interviews

Ansaro, the cloud HR platform that reduces bias in interviews and helps humans make better hiring decisions using AI, today announced its general availability to HR leaders, recruiters, and hiring managers. Ansaro offers teams an opportunity to improve the candidate experience, promote diversity, and increase quality of hire.

Many companies struggle with interviewing, which comes at the cost of a poor experience for the candidate. Assigning tests, games, and work samples during the hiring process can be an additional obstacle that leads to candidate drop off or incorrectly scores a candidate’s ability to succeed. While other AI solutions have attempted to combat these issues, they also reduce or eliminate human judgement. Ansaro improves hiring by augmenting human interviewers to provide more structure, consistency, and insight while keeping human interaction at the center of the candidate experience.

“We know based on 50 years of psychology research that well-structured interviews are the best predictor of new hire performance — and unstructured interviews are often worse than no interviews at all,” said Sam Stone, CEO and cofounder of Ansaro. “We designed Ansaro to complement the information humans gather best and paired it with data-driven analytics. This helps hiring managers make good long-term decisions while reassuring job seekers they’re getting a completely fair shot,” said Matt Mollison, Ansaro’s Chief Data Scientist and cofounder.

Ansaro is committed to using data science to reduce implicit bias in hiring — not perpetuating it. In addition to leveling the playing field by helping teams conduct consistent and informative interviews, the Ansaro platform helps identify non-obvious factors that could indicate implicit bias.

“Diversity is often focused on at the top of an organization,” said Stone. “Ansaro can help bring that intelligence to all levels, without adding hours of employee trainings, clunky systems, and time-consuming paperwork to show the results.”

Ansaro brings insight and agility to hiring teams, by helping them share and assess candidate information holistically. This includes interview information, resume data, and other inputs. Algorithms for predicting high-performing employees get smarter with every hire. Insights also help companies understand who their best interviewers are and which parts of their hiring process actually predict new hire success.

“At Teach For America, we have the opportunity to work with a number of external partners. Ansaro stands out,” said Michael Metzger, the Managing Director for Recruiting and Admissions Strategy at Teach For America. They have understood our needs as a client and produced products and learnings for us that have had a strong impact on our recruitment strategy.”

Ansaro is continuing to invest in its AI platform and recently secured a $3.0 million seed round led by Silicon Valley Data Capital with participation from GSV and a variety of angel investors. The funding will be used to expand its core offerings and provide more services for talent leaders.

Ansaro is the leading cloud HR platform to reduce bias in hiring and help humans interview better. Ansaro augments interviewing by providing structure, collaboration, and analytics to an inextricably human process. As a result, Ansaro helps teams improve Quality of Hire, enhance the candidate experience, and reduce unconscious biases. For more information on Ansaro, see
