View®, the leader in dynamic glass, today announced it was awarded a contract by Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to install up to 500,000 square feet of smart windows in DFW’s passenger terminals. DFW joins a large and growing list of leading airports rapidly adopting dynamic glass and setting a new standard in delightful passenger environments.
“Delivering a world-class customer experience is the overarching goal of DFW’s efforts to transform travel,” said Sean Donohue, CEO of DFW Airport. “After testing Dynamic Glass in our terminals, we were thrilled to see the positive effects on the customer experience and look forward to installing the glass in locations that will have the greatest impact on our customers and our employees.”
A recent study at DFW’s Gate A28 and a nearby restaurant showed that View Dynamic Glass significantly improved passenger comfort over conventional glass, resulting in an 83 percent increase in passenger dwell time at preferred gate seating and a 102 percent increase in concession sales. View Dynamic Glass also demonstrated the ability to reduce HVAC and lighting energy usage by up to 15 percent in terminals during peak periods, significantly reducing carbon emissions.
“We are excited DFW has chosen to outfit the entire airport with View Dynamic Glass after it proved to deliver on all of their strategic priorities,” said Dr. Rao Mulpuri, CEO of View, Inc. “Our relentless focus on creating delightful human environments is yielding incredible results across the aviation industry. We are looking forward to working with DFW to create first-class passenger experiences.”
DFW Airport is the world’s fourth busiest airport, serving more than 67 million passengers traveling to 230 domestic and international destinations. As the largest carbon-neutral airport in the world and the first in North America, DFW’s adoption of dynamic glass builds upon its leadership position of embracing leading technologies to better serve its passengers, business partners, and the environment.
View Dynamic Glass has been installed at several airports to date, including Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).
