Idrive Adds Cellular Download to its Wi-Fi Enabled X2 Camera System

Starting July 1st idrive will start its cellular downloading service for the idrive X2 video event recorder. Cellular download will allow events to be transferred daily from anywhere on the road to a designated safety manager. Cellular download is a critical step in the coaching and fleet monitoring process for vehicles that are on the road for weeks at a time.
Cellular download has been available for several years but only for severe incidents and live video streaming. This is the first time Idrive has included full event download to its product line. Traditionally Wi-Fi download was the choice of transportation companies that started and ended the day in the same location. This eliminated required monthly fees in standard cellular contracts that many customers did not want to be locked into. Customer demand has now driven idrive to continue the expansion of the X2 camera capabilities to allow for some or all the fleet to download via cellular. Idrive decided to add the optional service of cellular download for customers who have this need.
Idrive is the only company in the industry that is offering both Wi-Fi and Cellular download. Idrive’s CEO, Sean O’Neil is excited about the additional service stating, “No two fleets are the same which is why we have always allowed our customers the option to customize their fleet cameras based on their needs.” Customers with locations that have vehicles returning daily can save money and use Wi-Fi for event downloads in high resolution at that location and then add cellular download to vehicles in a remote location or that aren’t returning for longer periods of time. It also allows customers to see videos with the cellular service immediately as they are downloaded in real time. When the vehicle returns the HD event videos are downloaded for better clarity via Wi-Fi. It really is the best of both worlds.
