TNSR can route up to 14 Mpps (the maximum packet rate for 10 Gbps) in software - per processor core.
AUSTIN, Texas (PRWEB) June 14, 2018
Netgate, the open-source secure networking company, today announced the availability of TNSR™ on the Amazon AWS Marketplace.
TNSR is an open-source based packet processing platform that delivers superior secure networking solution performance, manageability, and services flexibility. Based on the Linux Foundation’s Open Source Networking projects - FD.io's Vector Packet Processing (VPP), and Data Plane Developer Kit (DPDK) - TNSR can route up to 14 Mpps (the maximum packet rate for 10 Gbps) in software, per processor core. Customers can now easily and cost-effectively saturate a 25 Gbps Elastic Network Adapter (ENA) connection through available EC2 instances, which can be managed by 3rd party orchestration platforms via a RESTCONF API.
The company previously announced its first application, Transit VPC, in November, 2017. TNSR has now expanded beyond Transit VPC into a robust, multi-application platform capable of addressing a variety of enterprise and service provider needs.
Applications including high-performance firewalls, routers, virtual private cloud (VPC) interconnects, high speed traffic monitoring and more can now leverage exceptional secure networking performance, dramatically lower total cost of ownership, and service expansion freedom without being enslaved by expensive, inflexible, vendor lock-in alternatives.
Netgate is the force behind pfSense®, the world’s leading open-source firewall/routing/VPN platform with an installed base of over one million active instances.
“A growing percentage of business IT workloads is rapidly moving to the cloud,” said Jamie Thompson, CEO of Netgate. “Parallel to this shift, application performance needs continue to escalate. Underlying secure networking functions like firewalls and routing must keep up transparently - to tens, even hundreds of Gbps under strenuous traffic mix and encryption demands. Orchestration management and enterprise-class support are also table stakes. At the same time, buyers are loathe to pay six figure product prices. TNSR lets us fulfill existing customers’ evolving needs - as well as extending our open-source productization expertise into the largest enterprise, government, and service provider organizations.”
Netgate offers free TNSR trials complete with installation, configuration and operational guidance. To learn more, please visit https://www.netgate.com/products/tnsr/.
Netgate is dedicated to developing and providing secure networking solutions to businesses, government and educational institutions around the world. pfSense - the world’s leading open-source firewall - is actively developed by Netgate, with an installed base of over one million firewall users. TNSR extends the company’s open-source leadership and expertise into high-performance networking – capable of delivering compelling value at a fraction of the cost of proprietary solutions.
