HealthHavenHub Opens in New Haven
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (PRWEB) June 15, 2018 -- Mayor Toni N. Harp joined Senator Martin Looney and representatives from Bridge Innovations, HealthVenture and Origami Innovations at a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the opening of HealthHavenHub, (the “HUB”), a healthcare technology innovation space located place at 195 Church Street in New Haven, CT.
“The HUB is building upon New Haven’s strengths in manufacturing, health care and education,” said Mayor Toni N. Harp. “With the support of CTNext and through the great work of the Elm City Innovation Collaborative spaces like the HUB are now possible. This tremendous resource will build on the City’s already thriving health technology sector and will encourage other companies to start, grow and stay.”
“We have been working hard in the legislature to promote and retain businesses and entrepreneurs in Connecticut,” said Senator Martin Looney, President Pro Tempore of the Connecticut State Senate. “The opening of the HealthHavenHub marks an important step towards this goal and will serve as a model for future business growth in our state.”
The HUB supports global innovators who seek to change the healthcare landscape using advanced technology. Companies selected for HUB programs will receive workspace, funding, technical and professional expertise and entrepreneurial stewardship in their early stages of development. Founders will network with local and regional industry leaders through both formal and informal presentations, meetings and consultations.

The HUB is an innovative public/private partnership between the City of New Haven and three local technology accelerators:
HealthVenture (https://www.healthventure.com/) – a global foundry innovation center of excellence and investment fund that supports, and scales seed and early-stage start-ups whose mission is to transform digital health.
Bridge Innovations (https://bridgeinnovations.com/) – an accelerator lead by Oleg Shikhman for medical device start-ups focused on surgical robotics, instrumentation for advanced minimally-invasive procedures and therapeutic devices.
Origami Innovations (https://origamiinnovations.com/) – an innovation, design, and solution lab, founded by Yale Medical students Matthew Erlendson and Kirthi Bellamkonda, focuses on rapid technology transfer, creating tangible solutions in the healthcare technology sphere.
The Elm City Innovation Collaborative supports HealthHavenHub via an Innovation Places grant from CTNext.
