Two Sustainable Barcelona Seafood Companies To Give their Global Peers an Inside Look
PORTLAND, Maine (PRWEB) June 17, 2018 -- Frime and Cofradia de Palamós will welcome SeaWeb Seafood Summit field trip attendees.
The SeaWeb Seafood Summit, taking place June 18-22 in Barcelona, is giving its attendees the option of attending a daylong sustainable seafood-focused field trip up the coast from the Summit’s host city.
On Friday, June 22, a limited group of attendees will cap off their time in Barcelona by taking an inside look at the workings of two sustainable seafood leaders. The first stop will be family-owned tuna and swordfish processor Frime, which has roots in the Boqueria Market and a long-held corporate commitment to sustainability. The group will then depart for and visit Cofradia de Palamós, a red shrimp trawl fishery that is part of the Medfish project. While in the area, they will also tour the nearby Port de Palamós and Museu de la Pesca before viewing a live auction of red shrimp and other species landings.
“The field trip component of the Summit really reinforces the event’s commitment to expanding attendees’ educational experience from the conference to the actual field,” said Brenna Hensley, event director for Diversified Communications, which produces the Summit in partnership with SeaWeb. “Opportunities to experience sustainability hands-on add essential elements to attendee development, as well as the creation of effective sustainable strategies. This field trip will help accomplish that and solidify concepts presented throughout the conference agenda.”
In addition to three days of educational conference programming and networking events taking place Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, this year’s full conference attendees will also gain access to an intensive pre-conference seminar on the state of global tuna sustainability.
The SeaWeb Seafood Summit is the world’s premier seafood sustainability conference, bringing together over 105 speakers from every corner of the sustainable seafood movement. Summit speakers and registered attendees include global representatives from the seafood industry, the conservation community, academia, government and the media.
Attendees can register now to attend the seminar and all the sessions during the three-day Summit (Tuesday – Thursday), including the welcome address by Javier Garat. The field trip held on Friday can purchased in addition to a conference pass. For more information on the Summit or to register, visit seafoodsummit.org.
