HQC Inc. Solves Production Challenge for CSM Bakery Solutions
OSWEGO, Ill. (PRWEB) June 20, 2018 -- HQC Incorporated, a leading specialist in spouts and fitments for flexible packaging, has designed and supported the manufacturing of a new custom fitment for a spouted pouch for CSM Bakery Solutions’ DecoPro™ pre-packaged frosting.
DecoPro is a ready-to-use cake-decorating bag pre-filled with the company’s popular Brill® buttercrème icings in an easy, resealable format. The flexible package lets consumers bypass the pail-to-bag frosting method and achieve greater product-portion control.
Recognizing HQC as a specialist in spouts and fitments for flexible packaging, CSM approached the company seeking a more-efficient and -convenient fitment pouch for the frosting to be sold at certain retail stores. CSM’s expectations for the pouch fitment included double tamper evidency (two consumer-safety features), a starting design for the squeezable icing and the ability to accept piping tools for other designs.
HQC responded swiftly with an original fitment design. It then focused on proving the part would work with the package contents and different piping tools.
To help CSM determine which fitment details would work best with the product, HQC 3D-printed multiple elements and inserted them into the pouches. Once the right elements were approved, HQC built a prototype molding tool and worked further with CSM on finishing modifications.
Next, HQC welded the new fitment into the pouch at its plant so the pouch manufacturer could test it at their facility. The testing identified additional details for HQC to make in finishing the optimal part for the pouch.
CSM was now ready to supply the machinery developer with the right pouch fitment for designing equipment around it. Time-saving efficiency continued as HQC built production tools for the new fitment design while the machinery developer focused on the fully assembled prototype. The result was a superior final product ready for branding and sale.
