BIA’s Laura Chukanov Elected to Board of Directors for New York City Chapter of Women in eDiscovery™
NEW YORK (PRWEB) July 10, 2018 -- BIA, a leading national eDiscovery and digital forensics provider, announced today that one of the company’s National Account Directors, Laura Chukanov, was elected to the Board of Directors for the New York City chapter of Women in eDiscovery™. Serving as chapter meetings co-director, the selection marks Chukanov’s second term on the board.
“We always encourage our people to reach beyond our walls to learn more, help others and get involved. It’s exciting to see Laura lend her energy and talents to Women in eDiscovery, an organization we are proud to support and partner with, and to see her recognized by her peers as a valued member by being elected to the board,” said Brian Schrader, president and CEO of BIA.
The national group, which first launched in 2007, is a leading networking and leadership organization created to encourage and support women in the eDiscovery industry. Currently, the organization has 28 chapters across the country (and one in Europe) – all of which act autonomously, hold a wide range of continuing legal education (CLE) programs and women-led panels, and partner with different charitable initiatives.
“Women in eDiscovery is the most significant and influential resource available for encouraging and supporting women in our industry,” said Chukanov. “Between the charitable component, networking opportunities and leadership resources, there are many reasons and ways to get involved. I’ve been a member for years and look forward to continue playing a role in the growth of this fantastic organization.”
The New York City chapter plans and hosts multiple meetings, events and panel discussions covering a wide variety of topics, such as changes in courtroom eDiscovery, cybersecurity issues and a CLE program regarding the diversity, inclusion and elimination of bias – a new category from the New York State CLE Board. The chapter is also involved in numerous community service initiatives, including a partnership with Bottomless Closet – a non-profit organization that gathers professional clothing, shoes and accessories, as well as provides resume help and workshops, for women working towards self-sufficiency and career success. And in 2017, the chapter donated hundreds of items to women, children and senior citizens affected by Hurricane Harvey in Houston.
