Wayne Township Metropolitan School District and itslearning Take Bronze Medal in 2018 IMS Global Learning Consortium’s Learning Impact Awards
BOSTON (PRWEB) June 20, 2018 -- Wayne Township Metropolitan School District and itslearning, an internationally acclaimed learning management system (LMS), have been awarded a bronze medal in the 2018 IMS Global Consortium’s Learning Impact Awards program. Their entry in the Established Projects Category, Using LMS Interoperability to Power and Drive Student-Centered Learning, was recognized at this year’s annual Learning Impact Leadership Institute held in Baltimore, Maryland.
An expert panel of judges used eight criteria for determining the learning impact of entries. Out of the 26 projects that competed as finalists in this year’s competition, eight medalists were selected for their outstanding achievement. The award aligned to the theme Evolution to Next Generation Digital Learning Environments and was chosen among applications and platforms to manage the creation and delivery of learning experiences, including personalization, accessibility and mobility.
“As a major urban school district, Wayne Township had a challenge: to provide equitable access to quality digital content to enable students to take control of their learning. Further, these needed to be available anytime and anywhere to all students, including their large population of low-income students. They selected itslearning as their partner to meet that challenge,” said Arne Bergby, CEO of itslearning. “In doing so, Wayne Township has created a rebranded LMS, the Wayne Learning Hub, that now serves as a hub for 21st-century collaboration, personalization, instruction, and student, teacher and parent communication.”
In their submission to the awards program, Wayne Township and itslearning highlighted five key goals of their LMS partnership, the Wayne Learning Hub: Curated Resources; Digital Community; Safe, Collaborative Learning Spaces; Individual Learning Paths; and Readily Available Access.
“It is so important to allow students to have a voice in their own learning,” said Michele Eaton, director of virtual and blended learning at Wayne Township. “Creating the Wayne Learning Hub with itslearning has allowed our students to engage in personalized, blended learning experiences using digital tools, resources and strategies.”
Bergby concluded, “The success of this program through the curated online resources available in a readily accessible online learning space is what can be accomplished when organizations work together on a single mission and vision.”
The 2018 IMS Global Consortium’s Learning Impact Awards program held even more good news for itslearning. Beatriz Arnillas, senior educational advisor for itslearning, was recognized as one of the two recipients of the IMS Global 2018 William H. (Bill) Graves Leadership Award. Arnillas received the award alongside fellow educator and itslearning customer Lenny Schad, chief technology information officer (CTIO) for the Houston Independent School District (HISD), for the extraordinary improvement in student outcomes as a result a similar implementation of itslearning at HISD.
An analysis of the 2018 winning projects will be provided in the annual Learning Impact Report, which will be released in the fall.
