Collibra & Authors of The CDO Playbook Launch First Chief Data Officer Summer School
LONDON & NEW YORK (PRWEB) June 25, 2018 -- Collibra, the leading data governance and catalog platform for business users, has announced a partnership with the authors of The Chief Data Officer (CDO) Playbook, Caroline Carruthers and Peter Jackson, to launch the first CDO Summer School. The 10-week course, starting June 28, 2018, offers hands-on instruction for the first generation of CDOs, a new and increasingly critical role within many organizations.
Written by two practicing CDOs, The CDO Playbook brings together views, opinions and practitioners’ experience to offer a jargon-free, practical guide for CDOs, data professionals, and organisations looking to better understand the current (and future) CDO landscape. The CDO Summer School builds on the book’s content to provide data leaders with practical assessments and methodologies to put practice straight away. Delivered as a series of 90-minute online classes every two weeks with three in-person events taking place in London and New York, the course will arm participants with all the ingredients necessary to become a successful CDO.
Caroline Carruthers, CDO at Lowell Group and course co-founder explained, “I am, at heart, a problem solver. The bigger, more complex the problem the happier I am, which is great since I consider myself extremely fortunate to be part of a first generation of Chief Data Officers – a role that requires a passion for creative thinking and a love of technology to develop pragmatic solutions for interesting challenges. Our CDO Summer School combines these key elements, bringing together a community of like-minded CDOs for the first time to create an engaging learning environment for an exciting new generation of data leaders.”
The 10-week program will cover the ingredients to becoming a successful CDO; implementing the right technology, tools and team; leading the change; developing the right strategy, culture, and ethics.
Steve Neat, VP EMEA at Collibra, describes the benefits of the course to CDOs, saying, “The CDO is charged with the responsibility of both maintaining data security and compliance as well as driving competitive advantage through organizational data. Issues such as compliancy and security fall under the responsibility of the CDO and, with regulations such as the GDPR coming into effect recently, it’s never been more important for organizations to understand the business-critical importance of the CDO. If you are a CDO navigating through unchartered territory, looking to understand your position better and seeking guidance from peers and a community of data enthusiasts, this is the program for you. We look forward to working closely with Caroline and Peter to support this timely initiative.”
