Clyde Consolidated Independent School District Partners with Schneider Electric to Save Over $1 Million through Comprehensive Energy Efficiency Program
CLYDE, Texas (PRWEB) June 26, 2018 -- Energy and sustainability expert Schneider Electric today announced the kickoff of the second phase of a comprehensive energy efficiency project with the Clyde Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) in Clyde, Texas. This phase will improve performance of the district’s facilities, as well as comfort and lighting in the learning environment and further reduce energy costs and carbon emissions. Once completed, the district will reduce utility expenditures by 16.1 percent, totaling more than $1,161,120 in guaranteed energy savings over the next 20 years without any financial risk to the district.
In recent years, Clyde CISD has been challenged with increasing energy and operational costs due to aging infrastructure that was consuming increasing amounts of energy over time. Thanks to a capital recovery and reinvestment program with Schneider Electric, Clyde CISD is now able to implement major lighting, mechanical, building automation and water efficiency renovations throughout the district without being a financial burden for the community. Clyde CISD will save an average of $78,856 in energy and maintenance expenses annually over the life of the project, while simultaneously streamlining district operations and enhancing the student experience and classroom learning environment.

The previous project phase successfully lowered the district’s utility bills and reduced maintenance expenses.

The latest project phase includes renovations that will be made to all of the district’s facilities to create an enhanced learning environment. Improvements include a variety of energy efficiency upgrades such as:
• Upgrading district-wide interior and exterior lighting to LED technology
• Replacing 113 HVAC roof-top units on the high school and junior high school
• Updating the building automation system (BAS) for better control and efficiency
• Retrofitting water fixtures to reduce consumption
In addition to energy cost savings, the Clyde CISD project will have a sizable environmental impact on the local community. Once completed, the project will provide energy efficiency savings equivalent to removing 84 cars from the road, planting 9,872 new trees or removing 391 tons of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.
