Attending the 2018 Oklahoma IT Symposium is an opportunity for leaders engaged in technology to network and explore new ways to maintain competitive advantage in a global economy.

The Oklahoma CIO Group and the Tulsa CIO Forum announces the 10th Annual Oklahoma IT Symposium is coming to Edmond, Oklahoma at the new Hilton Garden Inn on August 15, 2018. This is a one-day, executive-level event designed for CIOs and their management teams. There will be nearly 200 CIOs, VPs, Directors and Managers present at this year’s Oklahoma IT Symposium.

The Oklahoma IT Symposium is Oklahoma’s annual major gathering of leaders, professionals, and academics working in the I.T. field. As technology continues to redefine the boundaries of industries and replace markets’ traditional geographic regions with borderless digital environments, it has become essential for local organizations to be aware of the global trends in their sectors and implement strategies to integrate them into their operations in order to be able to stay agile and maintain their competitive edge. This year’s symposium will look at emerging I.T. trends and provide insights into innovative leadership skills in today’s fast-paced digital age. This interactive event will also provide attendees with opportunities to collaborate and share their knowledge and experiences through a series of panels, break-out sessions, and networking.

Crystal M. Heard, CISSP, DTM, Enterprise Cyber Systems Integrator with the Department of Defense, will present the opening keynote titled: “Life After the Runway Presentation Description: Everyone has a destination set out for them and everyone will take various routes to get there.” Crystal will talk about the powerful weapons of perseverance and persistence and how they have been instrumental in her 20+ year career in the male-dominated field of Information Technology. She will share lessons that motivate all to "keep on keeping on."

Daniel Pullin, Dean, Michael F. Price College of Business Professor and Fred E. Brown Chair in Business Vice President at the University of Oklahoma, will deliver the lunch keynote presentation. Dean Pullin will share views on the importance of fostering an entrepreneurial mindset and how learning and deploying skills in innovation can benefit multiple life and career paths necessary for personal growth and societal prosperity. Using a cross-disciplinary approach, Dean Pullin will draw examples from his work at the University of Oklahoma and in various Oklahoma communities to establish the critical link between innovation, entrepreneurship, and the prospects for Oklahoma’s best future.

Aaron Thomas, Principal & Head Basketball Coach, Aplington-Parkersburg High School, will present the closing keynote for the day titled “Opportunities & Platform: Overcoming Adversity”. Holding true to what you believe is important in life and it will be tested in the most difficult situations. How will you react when life surprises you with adversity? Life presents you with opportunities in both good and bad situations but how an individual responds to those opportunities are crucial. Aaron will challenge you to look at your life, your family, and your job to see if you are maximizing the circumstances you are presented with.

In addition to the three keynotes, there will be 12 breakout sessions and panels throughout the day focused on security, security automation, data analytics, diversity in technology, machine learning, cloud computing, virtual reality, IT governance, Blockchain, and the latest technology products.
