TCGRx is expected to announce a new product line at Cardinal Health Regional Business Conference (RBC) at the kick-off of the show today. Consider it the automatic teller machine (ATM) of the pharmacy industry: LocalRx™. Developed by TCGRx to enhance customer service by expediting the will call process for prescription medications, LocalRx offers unprecedented convenience for both the patient and the pharmacy. The secure system enables patients to receive automated notification, via e-mail or text message, that their scripts have been filled, facilitating pick-up within seconds.
Similar to an ATM, the system allows patients to avoid both the lines and limited hours of brick and mortar pharmacies. Patient retrieval is handled via pick-up code or smartphone app. Additional features of LocalRx include a touchscreen interface, barcode authentication, multiple drawer configurations, and audit trail reporting.
For the pharmacy, the system offers remote monitoring of pick-ups and full or empty slots, variable locker sizes, and search and seize function. The patient can request a consultation via webcam and telephone, and customer data is encrypted to protect sensitive information and privacy. The system also manages return to stock, producing detailed reports on kiosk inventory levels and all other activity.
LocalRx offers a range of pharmacy integration options while enhancing the sale of OTC medications with their new product, LocalRx™ OTC. The LocalRx OTC will allow pharmacies to stock products such as aspirin, cold medicine, and eye drops, or any other frequently requested over-the-counter items. Customers will be able to pick up their pharmacy scripts from the LocalRx machine, then if there are additional OTC items they need, they can access the OTC machine, all without needing to stand in line at the pharmacy to pay.
