Mixed Roots Foundation Hosts Two Events Featuring U.S. Olympic Hockey Team Sisters, Marissa & Hannah Brandt at U of MN & Target Field to Celebrate Adoption & Foster Care
MINNEAPOLIS (PRWEB) June 29, 2018 -- What: Mixed Roots Foundation will host two events that will celebrate adoption and foster care including the first that will take place in partnership with the University of Minnesota Alumni Association, An Alumni Panel Discussion taking place on Thursday, July 12th from 6-8 p.m. at the McNamara Alumni Center at the University of Minnesota that will feature U of MN Alumni the US Women’s Olympic Hockey Team sisters Hannah Brandt who won Gold with Team USA and her sister Marissa Brandt, adopted as an infant from South Korea and played for the first ever United North and South Korea Women’s Hockey Team in this past Olympics in South Korea, Founder and President of Mixed Roots Foundation, Holly Choon Hyang Bachman and other special guests in the greater community and will share the success of the Olympics, adoption stories and resources.
The second event will feature over 200 adopted and foster youth that will have the chance to see their first ever MN Twins baseball game at “Adoptee Night” on Friday, July 13th, at 7:10 at Target Field. The US Women’s Olympic Hockey team sisters Marissa and Hannah Brandt will throw out the First Pitch. Other invited guests include U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar and various community partners and sponsors. Many adopted and foster youth have never attended a baseball game, so the experience of sharing a major league baseball game with caring foster and adoptive parents and their families as well as would-be mentors can possibly turn into a more lasting and positive relationship for all involved. Youth and Families will receive a signature Adoptee Night Rally Towel as well as be seated together in an exclusive Adoptee Night section.
For the past 7 years, Mixed Roots Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Los Angeles, but was established and has regional offices in San Francisco and Minneapolis has hosted the annual “Adoptee Night” to promote foster care and adoption issues, with the hope of recruiting foster and adoptive parents for children in need. Mixed Roots Foundation has staged similar events nationally and globally supporting post-adoption resources, including mentoring, DNA testing, and unique scholarships and grants for youth and their families.
