Four-day event at Columbus expected to draw 500-plus fire professionals

Aladtec's platform puts all schedule functions in an officer's hand.

I believe that if they took Aladtec's Fire Manager away from us, there would be a mutiny. -- Jerry Craddock, firefighter-paramedic, Mentor (OH) Fire & Rescue

Health, wellness, and education are themes Ohio Fire Chiefs Association members will hear championed when they gather July 12-16 for the annual Office Development Conference being held at Columbus Hilton at Easton.

Along with education and fellowship, department leaders will shop products and services offered by more than 100 vendors -- including Aladtec, the premier provider of scheduling software and workforce management solutions for public safety.

The Aladtec system easily handles the complex scheduling and unique rotation requirements common in fire service. Its features allow members to submit availability, request time off and initiate shift trades -- all from a smartphone, tablet or desktop. It helps leaders monitor and meet minimum staffing requirements, helps control overtime, integrates with payroll, and allows agencies to track certifications and licensing. Aladtec e-forms speed up rig checks and provide airtight documentation.

Firefighter-paramedic Jerry Craddock recalls the hassles of trying to check a schedule, request time off or swap a shift before Mentor (OH) Fire & Rescue subscribed to Aladtec. He’d either need to drive to the station or phone in to check a paper schedule posted somewhere.

“It was crazy, but when we got Aladtec, it all became so organized,” said Craddock. “There was quick acceptance. It streamlined what was once a chore. I believe that if they took Aladtec's Fire Manager away from us, there would be a mutiny.”

Other program highlights for attendees include presentations on fireground responsibility, fire station construction, single-engine fires, and a first-person account of how the Fire Department of New York recovered from 9-11, presented by Sal Cassano, FDNY commissioner at the time.

Conference attendees are invited to stop by the Aladtec booth (#17) during the trade show, from 1 -6 p.m., Friday, July 13, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday. Senior account representative Brad Parmeter and product manager Jaimie Hammond will provide demonstrations of the software and answer any questions.

Aladtec is a supporting member of the Ohio Fire Chiefs Association and list 142 Ohio fire departments as valued customers, including 27 in the Columbus region. The firm has 2,100 subscribers across the U.S and Canada.
