“40 Days Closer to the Master”: an inspiring invitation for daily discipleship with the Lord. “40 Days Closer to the Master” is the creation of published author Elaine M. Williams, a women’s ministry director and Sunday school teacher at Austinville Assembly of God in Virginia, where her husband pastors; she is a mother of three sons, two of whom serve in the military, and has spent a decade in active mission work.
Williams shares at the beginning of the journey, “God has not left us to figure out what our mission is on our own or to wander aimlessly in the dark. You are not here by accident. If you want to know your purpose, ask God! Then be sure to be quiet for a moment and listen to the answer. He created you, therefore, He has a plan for you. God is your personal source of life. Every person is different. God may speak to you through His word or through conversations with a friend. He may speak to you through song. So be sure you are listening with your heart open.
So for day 1, I want you to ask yourself. What is my relationship like with the Master? How much time do I give Him every day? Is it a close relationship or a distant one? Remember, long distance relationships rarely work! Do I put myself, my needs, and my desires above God’s?”
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Elaine M. Williams’s new book is a much-needed reminder that God longs for each one to hear His voice and develop a one-on-one relationship with Him, just as Jesus did with the disciples.
In a world full of people trying to grab one’s attention, Williams’ daily devotional offers the reader a spiritual anchor in the One whose voice matters above all else.
