ELMHURST, Ill., July 19, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On July 11, 2018, Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, P.C. attorneys Brian L. Salvi, Jeffrey J. Kroll, and Eirene N. Salvi obtained a $2.15 million settlement on behalf of a man who suffered a permanent brain injury in a DuPage County motorcycle accident.
According to a complaint filed in DuPage County Court, on June 26, 2015, 35-year-old Wyatt Williams was driving his 1986 Honda CN250 Helix motorcycle westbound on North Avenue near the intersection of Maple Street when he was struck by a 2007 Volskwagen Jetta attempting to turn left onto Maple Street. Mr. Williams was wearing a full face helmet at the time of the crash.
When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they observed both vehicles had sustained extensive damage, according to the complaint. Mr. Williams was transported to Elmhurst Hospital with serious injuries, including broken ribs, a torn ligament in his knee, and a head injury.
The complaint goes on to state that since the crash, Mr. Williams has experienced chronic physical pain and a moderate, permanent traumatic brain injury. Due to his brain injury, Mr. Williams experiences anxiety, as well as difficulty concentrating and controlling his emotions. As a result, he has had trouble maintaining a job and providing for his four children. [Case No.: 2015 L 000744 Wyatt Williams, Plaintiff v. Leslie Mueller, Defendant]
Less than a week before the case was scheduled to go to trial, the Plaintiff's and Defendant's attorneys settled the case for $2.15 million.
"We didn't receive an offer on the case until 2 weeks before trial, but the defense knew we believed in our case and that we were willing to go the distance," Mr. Williams' attorney Brian L. Salvi said. "In the end, I think that mentality got us to this result. Wyatt has been a fighter the last 3 years and it was an honor to represent him. I'm so happy Wyatt got the justice he deserved and a level of financial security that will allow he and his family to move forward."
