Genscape Captures Aerial View of Atlantic Sunrise Expansion, Proves Construction on Schedule
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (PRWEB) July 24, 2018 -- Last week, Genscape conducted a flyover of the Atlantic Sunrise expansion, confirming construction is on target despite contract filing delays. Images showed over 90 percent of the Central Penn Line South complete and several miles of right-of-way being restored. One major portion of the expansion, the I-81 bore, appeared much further along than anticipated. While Genscape believes the expansion will likely go into service in mid-August as advertised by Transco operator Williams Partners, there were delays in shipper contract filings. Owners must file documents 30-60 days prior to in-service and Williams finally filed last Friday, July 20. In-service date could push slightly past mid-August, but aerial intel combined with the recent paperwork filings indicate the expansion is on schedule.
The Atlantic Sunrise pipeline project is a $3 billion, 186 mile expansion of the Transco system designed to increase transport capacity for the Marcellus shale gas. The pipeline extends across ten Pennsylvania counties. Construction began in fall 2017, but met considerable public pushback, causing several legal and political hurdles for Williams Partners.
