Corporate Chaplains of America Awards “10:27” Scholarship To West Middlesex, PA’s Ashleigh Stout
WAKE FOREST, N.C. (PRWEB) July 25, 2018 -- Corporate Chaplains of America (CCA) has announced that Ashleigh Stout from West Middlesex, Pennsylvania has been awarded the organization’s “10:27” Scholarship.
Ashleigh graduated from high school on May 24, 2018. She plans to begin college at Cedarville University in the fall of 2018 where she looks forward to majoring in Linguistics and minor in Spanish and Bible. Ashleigh will also be certified in TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language). She is the daughter of Michael and Kristina Stout. Her father has served as a chaplain with CCA since April 2012.
CCA’s “10:27” Scholarship – a grant of $2,500 – is awarded to a student who has shown dedicated commitment to the command to love God and others laid out in Luke 10:27. It is also intended to be a blessing to a CCA chaplain by helping provide for the cost of their children’s higher education.
Jesus says in Luke 10:27, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.”
Ashleigh’s love for people and her desire to glorify the Lord with her life are evident. At a young age, Ashleigh encountered a situation where a deaf woman was trying to communicate a problem. Ashleigh was unable to communicate with her and the Lord used this to spark her desire to learn sign language for His Glory. “I stood there, wanting to help, but I did not know sign language. I could not understand her. I was so upset. I went home and learned the alphabet in American Sign Language. Then, I continued studying and learning. Today, I am fluent and sign daily. I learned that I never want language to be a barrier between me and helping someone… For me, loving God with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength means using languages to share the love of Christ with others,” Ashleigh recalled.
The “10:27” Scholarship is open for dependent children of full-time CCA chaplains. Students must be US residents in their final year of high school or actively enrolled on a full-time basis and in good standing in an accredited community college or 4-year institution. Scholarships are one-time awards.
