RIVERDALE, Ill. (PRWEB) July 26, 2018 -- Pursell will head ARM’s efforts to bolster ARM’s already robust member resources, and continue to build on strategic partnerships with RPS, ARMFiCo, and carriers. One of Pursell’s first initiatives will be to work with the board in a strategic planning session set for October 2018. The meeting agenda will be to outline a three-year plan that will set goals and action items.
Pursell brings a wealth of experience to her appointment. Since 1998 Mary has served as president of Abbate Insurance Associates, Inc. in New Haven, Connecticut. She began her career as a producer and customer service representative at Abbate in 1982, and then served as vice president from 1988 to 1997. Pursell has held several positions, including president of the Connecticut Chapter of the CPCU Society, president of the New Haven Insurance Agents Association, president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Connecticut (first woman to hold the office of president in its 112-year history), and as a board member with ARM International. Pursell also served as Vice Chair of the ARM board. She is currently an INVEST liaison with the Independent Insurance Agents of Connecticut, a position she’s held since 2006.
“My goal as ARM International chair is to reach more agent members and increase engagement throughout the organization,” says Pursell. “That includes improving communication and promoting transparency and unity among all ARM regions.”
A lifelong resident of Westville, Connecticut., Pursell holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Economics from Southern Connecticut State University. She has been recognized with a Veritas Award from the New Haven Club at Providence College; the “40 Under 40” Award by New Haven Business Times; and Young Agent of the Year designation by the Independent Insurance Agents of Connecticut. She is active in a number of community-based organizations and has held numerous positions. In 2015, Pursell established Linens of Love nonprofit, which collects linens and toiletries for homeless shelters, women’s shelters, and for homeless veterans being placed in permanent housing.
“Being an ARM member first and foremost, I know the power and advantage ARM brings to its member agencies,” says Pursell. “I am grateful for the chance to bring even more of those advantages to ARM through my work as Chair. I look forward to working hard for the ARM constituency and enhancing the work we do for the benefit of our members.”
