Greenberg Traurig’s Tomás Leonard Participates in the 24th Annual U.S.-Mexico Bar Conference
WASHINGTON (PRWEB) October 15, 2018 -- Tomás Leonard, a shareholder in the International Arbitration & Litigation Practice of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, spoke at the 24th Annual U.S.-Mexico Bar Conference titled “Rule of Law: Lighting a Common Path", Oct. 10-12 in Mexico City, Mexico. The event featured expert panels with top lawyers, the judiciary, and academics from both Mexico and the United States. Additionally, Greenberg Traurig hosted a welcome cocktail reception.
Leonard spoke on an international arbitration panel on Oct. 11. He discussed current topics concerning the intersection between corruption in international business transactions and international arbitration. Other participants included moderator Fernando Navarro from JAMS, as well as speakers Hugh Hackney from JAMS and Raul Guillermo Aldana from Basham, Ringe y Correa.
Based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, Leonard focuses his practice on international arbitration and international litigation covering primarily foreign direct investment (FDI) in Latin American countries. He advises and represents both private investors and sovereign states in international arbitration proceedings before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), and other forums. Leonard also represents clients in trade disputes before the International Trade Commission (ITC) and the U.S. Department of Commerce. Prior to practicing law in the United States, he practiced in Argentina, representing financial institutions, investment funds, and international investors in corporate, finance, and banking matters.
