Greenberg Traurig’s Natasha Wilson, Sumaya Ellard, and Mellori Lumpkin-Dawson to Speak at The Women in Law Summit Series
ATLANTA (PRWEB) October 31, 2018 -- Natasha L. Wilson, shareholder at global law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, and senior associates Sumaya Ellard and Mellori E. Lumpkin-Dawson, will speak at The Women in Law Summit Series to be held in Atlanta on Nov. 1. The firm is a sponsor of the event.
This year’s theme, “The Women, Diversity and Change Summit,” features speakers, including law firm attorneys and corporate legal counsel, who will explore topics on how to create lasting change for women and minorities in the legal profession.
Wilson, who also serves as co-chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice’s Complex Employment Litigation & Trials group and co-chair of the firm’s Atlanta Labor & Employment Practice, will speak on the “Sponsors, Influencers & Career Engineering” panel. The panel will examine strategic ways to cultivate sponsors and influencers to create the most rewarding professional opportunities. Wilson focuses her practice on labor and employment law and devotes her legal practice to representing management in all aspects of employment law, from prevention and compliance issues to arbitration and litigation. She has litigated a wide variety of employment issues on the federal, state, and local levels before courts and administrative agencies.
Ellard, who practices in the firm’s Atlanta Labor & Employment Practice group, will speak on “Dealing with Unconscious Bias & Discrimination.” The panel will discuss types of unconscious bias to be aware of and how to approach colleagues when reporting is necessary. Ellard focuses her practice on labor and employment matters and is experienced representing employers in single-plaintiff, collective action, and class action litigation involving race, sex, color, disability, and age discrimination and harassment; wrongful termination; retaliation; wage and hour laws (including classification and termination pay issues); and unfair labor practices. Her discrimination practice covers both state and federal law, in a variety of different industries, including education, government, health care, and the financial sector.
Lumpkin-Dawson, who practices in the firm’s Atlanta Labor & Employment Practice group, will speak on the “Self-Advocacy & Countering Personal Negotiation” panel. The panel will review tools and ways to build confidence and self-advocate for growth opportunities. Lumpkin-Dawson focuses her practice on discrimination and retaliation litigation. She counsels employers on employment policies and compliance, including discipline and termination of employees, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation claims, investigations of employee misconduct, wage and hour compliance, FMLA compliance, and recordkeeping requirements and best practices.
