2018 Cannabis Business Awards "CBA Globes" Celebrates the Best in the Industry Days Before Hemp is Legalized in America
The awards gala celebrated leaders across the industry with a lineup of celebrities, pro-athletes and the best of the cannabis and hemp industry worldwide.
DENVER, Dec. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On December 5, the very same day prohibition of alcohol ended 85 years ago, the seventh annual Cannabis Business Awards annual CBA Globes, produced by Chloe Villano and Clover Leaf, honored the best of individuals, organizations and businesses that push the cannabis and hemp industry forward. As the first awards show of its kind, each year the celebration brings out industry insiders and has become one of the most important and prestigious vehicles for annual recognition in the cannabis business community. 2018 launched the CBA Globes in Miami, New York and California, and the buzz continued with the sold-out, original Colorado show, attended by the most elite professionals, celebrities and pro athletes in the industry.
Villano with her co-hosts—two-time Super Bowl Champion turned advocate, Jonathan Casillas and former Denver Nugget and Viola Brands founder, Al Harrington—presented awards across more than 25 categories. Top winners include:
Political Industry Representative of the Year - Governor-Elect, Jared Polis
Most Influential Individual- Wanda James
Activist of the Year - Former professional ice hockey left winger for the Philadelphia Flyers, Riley Cote
Business Exec of the Year - Lynn Honderd, CEO Mary's Medicinals, Mary's Nutritionals, Mary's Pets
Advocate of the Year - Arby Barroso, CEO of Green Roads and Cannabis Life Radio
Hope Award - Hiller Law, Michael Hiller, Jagger Cotte, Lauren Rudick, Alexis Bortell, Marvin Washington, Jason Cranford, Jose Belen, CannaCultural Assoc., and Joseph Bondy
The Cannabis Business Awards highlights the brave, innovative work and advocacy currently happening in the industry—from pro-athletes to advocates; to parents that now grow hemp for seizures like Sierra Riddle; minority groups that fight for equal rights and access like Minorities for Medical Marijuana; and women who run their cannabis businesses and focus on educating people about the plant like Dani Fontaine, Owner of Colorado Hemp Project, Natures Root and Woman of the Year.
Chloe Villano, who recently launched her own high end brand of products called Villano's, has pioneered many industry firsts as the first business consultant and one of the first business executives in the industry, with business track record that speaks for itself. She is the founder of the industry's first higher education approved university, Clover Leaf University. As the creator of the Cannabis Business Awards, Villano produces one of the most well attended events in the industry, with a wide array of participants from international unions and small business owners to celebrities, politicians, athletes and multi-millionaire CEOs; many whom were clients or students of Clover Leaf Consulting or Clover Leaf University.
The awards show doubled as a coming out party for two-time Super Bowl Champion Jonathan Casillas. After he announced his retirement from the NFL and entrance into the hemp industry, Casillas and Villano announced their partnership on a CBD company called Jade's Garden, launching in 2019. Additionally, Villano and Casillas announced their new product line will be tailored for the pro athlete.
Thursday, President Trump signed the 2018 Farm Bill, making hemp legal in America by removing it from the Controlled Substance Act, and making it a legal agricultural crop.
