ATLANTA, Aug. 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Professional Photographers of America (PPA) will live stream the judging of the International Photographic Competition (IPC) on Stream.theIPC.org. The live judging stream can be viewed by PPA members and non-members alike at no cost, Sunday, August 18 through Friday, August 23.
The live stream allows entrants to follow along with the judging in real-time and lets prospective competitors check out the process. For those considering eventually entering the competition, this behind the scenes look is an opportunity to learn what the judges are looking for and remove any apprehension they might have to enter.
This year marks the first for a new competition category: wedding photography. Meant for real wedding photographers and featuring work that was taken at an actual wedding, the Wedding Competition category leads to the new Master of Wedding Photography degree from PPA.
PPA is also encouraging photography groups around the world to host viewing parties with their photography friends. Viewers can post pictures to the PPA Facebook page, Facebook.com/OurPPA, and follow along with other studios. IPC participants will be alerted via email when their submissions are going up for judging to help ensure they don't miss seeing their images judged.
During the competition, a panel of IPC jurors from across the United States will select the top photographs from this year's 5,612 total entries. Winning images enter into PPA's General Collection or the esteemed Loan Collection—the best of the best in photography. The Loan Collection images will be published in the much-anticipated "Loan Collection" book and over 200 selected General Collection images will be published in the "Showcase" special edition book by Marathon Press. Images accepted into the General and Loan Collections will also be on display at Imaging USA in Nashville, TN, Jan. 19-21, 2020, making up one of the world's largest annual exhibits of professional photography gathered simultaneously under one roof.
To watch the judging of the International Photographic Competition, go to Stream.theIPC.org. PPA photographers will sign in with their PPA account logins. Non-PPA members can simply register to watch the streaming at no cost with an email address. Once signed in, there are multiple judging rooms to watch (portrait, illustrative, wedding, and event and non-event album). Viewers can switch between rooms at any time. Audio is not enabled on mobile devices. For full audio and video, please watch on a desktop computer.
