2019 Pain Management Coding Training—Virtual Boot Camp by AudioEducator

In this pain management coding training session, coding expert Amy Turner will discuss proper coding for some of the less common, hard-to-code pain management procedures to ensure proper billing. Turner will bring attendees up to speed with the pertinent changes to ICD-10 and pain management CPT® code changes for 2019; provide insights on where exactly to find the new, deleted, and updated CPT® codes; and explain the ICD-10 changes that will impact pain management.
Session 2: Audit Triggers and How to Avoid Them

In this session, Amy Turner will discuss the types of medical reviews and how they can affect a practice. She will explain what things can be easily improved to have happy employees and customers, as well as the importance of the OIG work plan. Most importantly, Turner will discuss whether things such as practicing hard code, or copying and pasting or pulling forward visits, etc., could possibly trigger an audit, and if they do, then how to prevent that from happening.

In this pain management coding training session, Amy Turner will address common challenges faced in coding advanced pain management procedures. This will include SCS, botulinum toxins, intrathecal drug delivery systems, kyphoplasty, vertebroplasty, the MILD procedure, and Superion placement. She will review some operative notes looking for key words to help with coding, and also discuss the SCS programming codes that are changing for 2019.
Session 4: Compliance – A Walk Through a Visit in Your Office

In this session, Amy Turner will build upon some of the topics from the Audit Triggers session. She will walk attendees through an office visit and life of a claim to identify areas that may need to be tweaked in the practice. Turner will also discuss the necessary documentation required to support billed services, and whether attendees are using the modifiers correctly.
