Cambridge Christian School Announces Major Expansion of West Tampa Campus
The construction project includes technology-based education facilities, a state-of-the-art athletic field, and enhanced street access.
TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 6, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Cambridge Christian School has announced the launch of the Built for More campaign, a new, one-year fundraising initiative that will secure an $8 million Impact Investment and raise $6 million to construct a new Upper School classroom facility, improve access and parking, and outfit a new athletic field for varsity sports. This fundraising will go against a total project cost of $17 million, of which $3 million has already been secured. The campaign will begin on November 13, 2021.
Heading up the Built for More campaign is Ed Jones, Director of Development for Cambridge Christian School. He recently served as Director of Strategic Giving for a Christian university in Northern California, where he launched the school's first Legacy Society. He also brings an extensive background in business development for the banking and lending industries. Jones is convinced the time is right for the campaign.
"To reach more students with college-prep Christian education in the highly competitive private school marketplace, Cambridge Christian School must improve its facilities," said Jones. "Funding from this campaign will modernize the Upper School's capabilities for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), as well as art, music, media, and physical education. Our staff is already the best in the city; we need to give them the tools and facilities that will allow our students to achieve more."
If the first phase of fundraising goals is met, construction is slated to begin in January 2022, with the Upper School facility being completed one year later, allowing students to return from Christmas vacation to classes in the new facility. Capacity of the school will increase significantly, reaching 1,000 students when the project is complete. Visitors to the campus will be able to enter from Armenia Avenue, a main artery, easily accessing abundant parking in a new, larger lot. A new, upgraded athletic field will host football and soccer competitions.
"Built for More is the first of four phases to bring this great school to a new level of excellence, all to the glory of God," said Scott Meister, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. "Cambridge Christian School is training leaders, many of whom go to top-notch colleges. Many become contributors to society in business, government, healthcare, ministry, and the arts. They are also well prepared to lead their families and communities. We want to do even more of this work."
The planned new Upper School facility was designed by Hepner Architects, one of Florida's top architecture and interior firms, based in Tampa, Florida. The facility has two floors and includes general classrooms as well as a STEM makerspace; a media center; and labs for biology, science, chemistry, and physics. Special rooms are outfitted for band, chorus, art, and TV production. Administrative offices, collaboration spaces, and a school store are also in the blueprints.
"If you love Cambridge Christian School--and a lot of us do--this campaign is the best way you can promote the values of the school," said Will Weatherford, Built for More campaign committee member. "We're on the threshold of a bright future of growth and influence. Expansion and improvement of the learning environment is the piece that completes the puzzle for this great institution."
