SAN MATEO, Calif. (PRWEB) November 16, 2021
Prairie Health, the California-based technology company driving better access and outcomes in mental health, today announced the appointment of Christopher Reist, MD, as its Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
Dr. Reist will oversee Prairie’s evidence-based psychiatry service as well as drive forward key initiatives related to research, innovation and business development. Dr. Reist will collaborate with research institutions, advance Prairie’s measurement-based care initiatives, and accelerate Prairie’s efforts on the leading edge of precision psychiatry. Dr. Reist joins Prairie leveraging a broad background in clinical care management, psychiatric research, and population health management. He previously served as Associate Chief of Staff in the VA Healthcare System and Chief Medical Officer for Population Health at Relias. He is currently Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at UC Irvine and Medical Director for Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Science 37. Among his many skillsets relevant to Prairie Health are a deep understanding of mental health treatments, pharmacogenomics, measurement based care, and research methodologies.
“Unlike the case for medical conditions like diabetes or hypertension, many providers are unaware of how their patients are doing from a mental health perspective,” says Dr. Reist. “We need to develop practical tools that are easy to implement and use by both patient and provider to measure and communicate emotional state. Despite many attempts, the field has yet to deliver on the promise of truly personalized care. I joined Prairie to address these challenges, inspired by Prairie’s vision for the future of mental healthcare.”
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Chris join the team,” stated Maurice Chiang, CEO and co-founder of Prairie Health. “His mental health leadership experience enables him to deeply appreciate the patient centric mission our company has. His expertise as a health technology executive and researcher will accelerate our vision of using data to positively impact the treatment and outcomes of individuals with mental illness.”
