The Strand Launches International Project with Colorado-Based Butterfly Pavilion to Create a Healthier, More Diverse Ecosystem of Pollinators at the Development.
DENVER, Sept. 27, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Strand, Turks and Caicos, an exclusive beachfront residential resort community located on 2,230 feet of pristine shore frontage on Cooper Jack Bay, has announced a partnership with Butterfly Pavilion to ensure the development is preserving and creating habitats for pollinators. This also marks the first project in the Caribbean for the Westminster, Colo.-based organization, which is the first Association of Zoos and Aquariums-accredited stand-alone, non-profit invertebrate zoo in the world.

The Strand is fully committed to conserving and improving habitats for pollinators. Increasing these populations will lead to increased pollination of the native plants and an overall healthier, more diverse ecosystem in the area. With the goal of becoming a certified pollinator sanctuary, the developer is designing and improving habitats so that pollinators increase over time over the footprint of the community. Following an assessment of the land this summer, Butterfly Pavilion provided recommendations to develop habitats for pollinators on the property.
Butterfly Pavilion is also working with The Strand's landscape partner, Landscaping by EA, to ensure the development is incorporating plants native to Turks and Caicos to make the development a place where butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators can congregate. In 2023, the team will return to Turks and Caicos to complete another assessment of the land and advise on next steps to see continued success of the program.
