A Space Coast tradition since 2009, Surfing Santas attracts thousands of spectators and surfers, and this year features a raffle to win a 1996 Toyota Hilux SSR X 'Surf' SUV.
COCOA BEACH, Fla., Nov. 30, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The famed Surfing Santas of Cocoa Beach (surfingsantas.org) event, a Space Coast holiday tradition for over a decade, will return this Christmas Eve for a morning of family fun on the beach.
The free event takes place from 8 a.m. to noon on December 24, 2022, beachside at Coconuts on the Beach, 2 Minutemen Causeway. Hundreds of surfers and thousands of spectators dressed in holiday-themed gear — plus millions of viewers online all over the world — are expected to participate. Additional activities this year include live local music, Hawaiian dance demonstrations, and the ever-popular costume content.
Surfing Santas of Cocoa Beach literally reached new heights this year when a Brevard County business owner brought a Surfing Santas plush doll with him into space aboard Blue Origin's 22nd human space flight.
"It's incredible to see how much the event has grown since its start in 2009," Surfing Santas Founder George Trosset says. "We've put billions of smiles on people's faces across the world, and now we've even sent a Surfing Santa into space. Up next: the moon!"
Also new this year, Surfing Santas of Cocoa Beach is raffling off a 1996 Toyota Hilux SSR X "Surf" SUV to a lucky winner. Proceeds from sales of raffle tickets as well as a special-edition Surfing Santas tye-dye T-shirt will go the event's charitable partners: the Florida Surf Museum, which works to preserve the unique history and culture of Florida surfing, and Grind for Life, which provides financial and travel assistance, counseling, and support for cancer patients.
Raffle tickets and shirts will be available at the event as well as online at surfingsantas.org/shop and locally at Ron Jon Surf Shop (Cocoa Beach), Long Doggers (all locations), Coconuts on the Beach, Drifthouse (Cocoa Beach), Space Coast CBD, Studios of Cocoa Beach, Coastal Produce Market (Cocoa Beach), and Another Ride Surf Shop (Indian Harbor Beach).
Corporate sponsors for this year's event include Our Aroma, Carroll Distributing Co., Carefree Boat Club, Kona Brewing Co., eLifeguard.com, TD Bank, Auto Expo 95, Erdman Automotive, Steven G. Casanova P.A., Nutrl, Long Doggers, Ron Jon Surf Shop, Country Inn & Suites, Space Coast CBD, Coconuts on the Beach, Clack! Industries, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, and Grills Seafood.
"Surfing Santas of Cocoa Beach is the perfect combination of holiday happiness and sensational surfing for which the Space Coast is famous," says Peter Cranis, Executive Director of the Space Coast Office of Tourism. "With fun activities for the whole family, a charitable aspect that gives back to the community, and a chance to win an iconic vehicle, what's not to love?"
