United States Navy Memorial Announces Scholarship for 2023
The United States Navy Memorial has announced a new $5,000 scholarship for the grandchildren of deceased Chief Petty Officers. Applications will be reviewed by a group of Master Chief Petty Officers in the Washington, D.C. area. The application window is now open and awards will begin in 2023.
WASHINGTON, Dec. 4, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The United States Navy Memorial has announced a new scholarship for the grandchildren of deceased Chief Petty Officers. The application window is now open and awards will begin in 2023.
An endowment was received from the widow of a Chief Petty Officer with the purpose of awarding scholarships to the grandchildren of deceased Chief Petty Officers (E7, E8, or E9). Each year, application packages will be reviewed and graded by a group of Master Chief Petty Officers in the Washington, DC area to award a minimum of one but no more than three $5,000 scholarships.
Applicants are eligible to apply for this scholarship if:
- The applicant is a grandchild of a deceased Chief, Senior Chief, or Master Chief Petty Officer.
- In the year of submission, the applicant possesses a GED, is a graduating high school senior or a high school graduate intending to enter, or is an undergraduate student currently enrolled in an accredited and degree-granting institution of higher learning, including post-secondary Vocational Institutions.
The following exceptions apply:
- Students selected to schools under full-ride scholarship will not be eligible for this scholarship.
- Students selected to attend military service academies or are enlisted in the Reserves are not eligible for this scholarship.
The Navy Memorial will accept applications online and by mail.
