ASHEVILLE, N.C., Dec.15, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ACT Advisors, a firm specializing in comprehensive financial planning for senior executives, today announced the completion of its 2020 charity: water project sponsorship, which funded clean water projects in Cambodia. With no charge for operating costs, 100% of ACT's $10,000 donation helped build one water point and sanitation facility over the last 21 months in Chaeng, Cambodia, benefiting 564 people. The non-profit organization charity: water, which brings clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries, was the 2020 recipient of the ACT Advisors' Global Growth Impact Award, the international prong of ACT's annual charitable outreach.
"Our charitable giving plan identifies organizations and causes where we believe our support will make the highest impact, and there is currently a water crisis in many countries around the world," said Doug English, CFP®, ACT Advisors' founder. "Water is life's most basic need, and it's a privilege to partner with an organization like charity: water, which gives people access to clean water and provides education and training to help restore health in families that need it most."
ACT's donation was included in a grant of over $2.18 million to charity: water partner Clear Cambodia, funding 738 water projects and serving over 144,000 people. According to charity: water, "dirty water kills more people every year than all forms of violence, including war." As part of its program, Clear Cambodia helps communities build biosand filters (BSFs) that kill 99% of bacteria. BSFs are simple, low-cost, slow-sand filters that purify water with layers of gravel and sand. Families participating in the construction process are also trained and monitored to help ensure consistent, long-term use.
"We want to help support our neighbors and create the kind of communities we're proud to be a part of, locally and abroad," said English. "Ultimately, clean water changes everything in helping families go to work, attend school, and live well." Learn more about charity: water at charitywater.org.
