EDWARDSVILLE, Ill., Dec. 15, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Broad Book Press, an imprint of Broad Book Group, has announced its Kickstarter campaign to help fund the printing costs of their 2023 release Second Sunrise: Five Decades of History at the Western States Endurance Run.
A long-time dream for Ponderosa Pine Design founder Vicky Vaughn Shea for years, she enlisted 11-time Western States finisher and talented writer John Trent to bring the story to life. Together they crafted a beautiful coffee table book that chronicles the history of the world's most elite ultra running event. Broad Book Press will publish and distribute the book worldwide.
"Broad Book Press is excited to partner with John and Vicky to bring the story of Western States to the public," said cofounder Vanessa Campos. "Both dedicated ultrarunners in their own right, they bring a passion and enthusiasm to the project that shines through and brings the race to life for readers."
The coffee table book is a 10 x 9.5" hardcover with 192 full-color pages printed on high quality, heavyweight paper. With more than 175 photographs depicting the history of the race, the story of the Western States Endurance Run and the people behind it will include the names of every WSER finisher throughout its history through 2022 in the end sheets.
Charles Savage, 20-time Western States finisher and longtime WS board member, notes that the book is "an excellent Western States history thoroughly researched and well written. Anyone who has ever been involved with WS and those who have heard about WS will want Second Sunrise."
The Kickstarter is running through December 28, 2022, with pledges starting at $45 USD for an early copy of the book and includes pledge tiers with Second Sunrise branded merchandise like insulated water bottles, trucker hats, and stickers in addition to signed copies of the book.
