A lyric-forward portrayal of the sweet and sour balance of life

Last week, Cara Nicole, a San Francisco based pop singer-songwriter, formally released her new single "Home," a sweet, folk-pop ballad about belonging.

Written during the Covid pandemic, "Home" is an acoustic celebration of figuring out what’s important, and acknowledging the sweet and sour balance of life. The lyrics work through finding your place in the world, warmly emphasizing themes of simplicity and certainty.

The majority of Cara Nicole’s songs are written alongside her dad, Jerry Stucker, a Chicago-born funk musician. The main reason why her music, and specifically “Home,” is sonically and intrinsically special, is due in part to this unique collaboration with her father.

“The soul-awakening guitar riffs performed by my dad have to be my favorite component of the song” she says, referencing the ear candy played in the breakdown. “When I showed him the audio I chose for my Instagram reels and TikTok videos, he said, ‘those riffs aren’t the star of the show – your singing and the hook are and should take center stage!’”

Cara Nicole’s heartfelt vocal performance atop a nostalgic plucking guitar melody delivers feelings of comfort and coziness to the listener, making "Home" a must-listen for fans of folk music, slow mornings, and anyone in need of a feel-good tune.
