WASHINGTON, May 26, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The United States Navy Memorial is excited to announce the return of two popular series this summer, Concerts on the Avenue and Movies on the Memorial.
Concerts on the Avenue, which began in 1997, is a series of live performances by the U.S. Navy Band and U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard. The first concert will take place on Tuesday, May 31st at 7:30 pm ET, followed by 11 more weeks of concerts featuring a mix of the full U.S. Navy Band and individual ensembles.
Each concert will take place on Memorial Plaza on Tuesdays at 7:30 pm ET, located on Pennsylvania Avenue and directly next to the Archives-Navy Memorial metro stop. In the case of inclement weather, U.S. Navy Band concerts will be replaced with a performance by the Sea Chanters inside the Navy Memorial's theater, and the ensemble concerts will be canceled.
Movies on the Memorial is a summertime series, sponsored by Northrop Grumman and USAA, of Navy-themed films shown outdoors on Memorial Plaza that pay tribute to our nation's rich maritime heritage. This series will kick off on Thursday, June 2nd at dusk with a showing of Midway (2019, PG-13). The Navy Memorial will show a different film every Thursday at dusk until September 1st. In the case of inclement weather, movies will be canceled.
