Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Scholars Program, Alliance Coal grants college scholarships to high school graduates, and awards teachers who guided them toward success.
TULSA, Okla., June 9, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. (NASDAQ: ARLP) this week announced the eight exceptional graduating seniors receiving college scholarships from the Alliance Coal Scholars Program. The top-ranked students selected three teachers to receive teacher recognition awards.
Alliance Coal Scholars are employees' daughters or sons pursuing postsecondary education in college and vocational school programs. Students are recognized for their leadership in school activities and contributions to the community, as well as their academic achievements.
Renewable scholarships of $2,000 were awarded to the top three scholarship recipients. Scholarships of $1,000 were awarded to the next five highest-ranking recipients. Since the program's founding in 1997, $530,500 has been awarded in scholarships to 251 students. An additional $44,500 has been awarded to their remarkable teachers.

As well as honoring the academic achievements of these students and contributing to their continuing education, the Alliance Coal Scholars Program also helps identify and cultivate top talent for the future.
The top three students, awarded $2,000 renewable scholarships, are:
Callie Neeley, graduate of Grayville High School in Grayville, Illinois; daughter of Marc Neeley, employed by Gibson County Coal, LLC. Callie will major in nursing at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana.
Landon Niehaus, graduate of Carmi White County High School in Carmi, Illinois; son of Harvey Niehaus, employed by Hamilton County Coal, LLC. Landon will major in agribusiness economics at Illinois Eastern Community Colleges: Wabash Valley College in Mount Carmel, Illinois.
Anna Spencer, graduate of Webster County High School in Dixon, Kentucky; daughter of Shayne Spencer, employed by River View Coal, LLC. Anna will major in psychology at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky.
The scholars receiving $1,000 awards are:
Hannah Hasselbrinck, graduate of Gibson Southern High School in Fort Branch, Indiana; daughter of Danny Hasselbrinck, employed by Gibson County Coal, LLC. Hannah will major in biochemistry at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana.
Isabella Linton, graduate of John Marshall High School in Glen Dale, West Virginia; daughter of Brian Combs, employed by Tunnel Ridge, LLC. Isabella will major in neuroscience at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Stephen Little, graduate of Union County High School in Morganfield, Kentucky; son of Dennis Little, employed by River View Coal, LLC. Stephen will study at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Jaxon McCullough, graduate of FJ Reitz High School in Evansville, Indiana; son of Steve McCullough, employed by Gibson County Coal, LLC. Jaxon will major in civil engineering technology at Colorado State University: Pueblo in Pueblo, Colorado.
Caleb Tham, a homeschooled high school graduate from Tulsa, Oklahoma; son of Chris Tham, employed by Alliance Coal, LLC. Caleb will major in medical molecular biology at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Alliance Coal recognizes the importance of the mentorship and inspiration that teachers provide. An elementary, junior-high, or senior-high teacher was selected by each of the top three scholarship recipients to receive the $500 Alliance Coal Teacher Achievement Award.

This year's teacher recognition awards are granted to: Brian Hucker of Grayville High School in Grayville, Illinois; Bobby Lame of Carmi White County High School in Carmi, Illinois; and Bailey Townsend of Webster County High School in Dixon, Kentucky.
Scholarship America, the nation's largest nonprofit, private sector scholarship organization administers all aspects of the Alliance Coal Scholars Program, including the selection process.
