Meet Cute Announces Summer Rom-Com Slate Featuring Bridgerton's Charithra Chandran and Hocus Pocus 2 Star Lilia Buckingham

NEW YORK, July 6, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Meet Cute, the leading entertainment company producing original scripted romantic comedies for Gen Z and millennial audiences, has announced its summer lineup. Released monthly, each series breathes new life into the traditional love story from July's "A Pool for Love" to "I Owe You One" in August, and finally "A Mid-Semester Night's Dream" in September.
Launching this week, "A Pool for Love" is a summer romance starring Hocus Pocus 2 star and Gen Z influencer Lilia Buckingham. Written by Sophie Santos (New York Magazine, NBCUniversal), "A Pool for Love" is set at La Villa Pool in Florida. Seventeen-year-old Jordan has finally been made head lifeguard when new girl Marissa steps onto the scene, causing Jordan's summer to become a struggle as she starts to feel fuzzy feelings.
For August, "I Owe You One" tells the story of an undocumented man who convinces his permanently-annoyed-with-him ex, who also happens to be the mother of his child, to marry him for a green card. While playing "happy family" for the authorities, the couple relives her bitter history, and, in spite of themselves, the passion that brought them together in the first place. "I Owe You One" is written by Michelle Gurule and stars Jose Nateras and Paloma Nozicka.
In September, a Shakespearean classic gets reimagined with "A Mid-Semester Night's Dream." Starring Bridgerton's Charithra Chandran and written by Danielle Evenson and Heather Huntington, the series follows a group of graduate students who discover a magical edition of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream that makes people fall in love with whomever reads from it.
