New podcast series takes listeners behind the wheel of the trucking industry
CHICAGO, Sept. 13, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Urban Trucker podcast series is premiering Tuesday, September 13th. The new podcast, from producer Aaron Smith and co-hosts Ed Hennings and Crissy "Blu Jai", highlights the swag, lifestyle, culture, and business minds behind the trucking and the supply chain industries. According to the American Trucking Association, women make up 7.8% of the nation's drivers, an all-time high, and minorities account for 42.3% of truck drivers. The Urban Trucker highlights some of these individuals and shares their personal journeys and experiences working in the trucking industry.
Listeners can expect to hear not only from truck drivers, but also dispatchers, freight brokers, accountants and other professional figures who make the trucking industry run. Guests will be discussing trucking culture as well as personal and educational experiences on the show. Each episode is meant to inspire listeners while paying respect to the men and women responsible for keeping the shelves stocked.
The Urban Trucker podcast series is produced by Aaron Smith, who previously spent nearly a decade behind bars before switching hustles upon his release. He is the host, creator and producer of his own successful podcast series, Escaping the Odds, which highlights individuals who were impacted by the criminal justice system and are now entrepreneurs and business leaders. Aaron is also the owner of U Turn Transport, a trucking company that hires the formerly incarcerated. He partnered with Ed Hennings to create a box truck course and mentorship program that teaches others the ins and outs of owning a trucking business.
The Urban Trucker is co-hosted by trucking mastermind Ed Hennings and he shares his story and experiences in the first episode of the season. After serving 20 years in prison, Ed opened a barber shop, and was convinced it was his calling until he had a conversation with a client about trucking. By the time the client came back into the shop the next week, Ed had purchased his first 26-foot box truck for $10K. It was that hustle and execution that led to three more trucks and the nick name, "The Final Mile Mogul". In five short years, Ed has built a six-figure business and provided employment for countless individuals. Ed is also working on releasing a line of trucker wear and teaches the trucking classes he created with Aaron.
Crissy "Blu Jai" co-hosts The Urban Trucker alongside Ed. She has been blazing the Lexington, Kentucky podcast airways since 2018 as a former co-host of "He said, She Said." She is also a frequent guest host on WTVQ-TV Good day Kentucky. In March of 2021, Crissy and her son Devon were in talks of getting into the trucking industry. Unfortunately, before they could bring the dream to fruition, she lost him to gun violence in December of that year. She is honoring her son's memory by joining The Urban Trucker crew and continuing what they started last year.
The Urban Trucker premiers Tuesday, September 13th and new episodes will be released weekly. Listeners can stream the episodes on Spotify or iHeart.
