Community of Writers Welcomes Applications for its Esteemed Summer Writers Workshops in Fiction and Nonfiction
On July 10–17, 2023, the Community of Writers will present its annual writers workshops in fiction, nonfiction, and memoir. This year's workshops will feature special guests and celebrated voices in writing, including Alex Espinoza, Robert Hass, Dana Johnson, Michelle Latiolais, and Amy Tan. The workshop will be held at the Community of Writers' home of over 50 years: Olympic Valley in the California Sierra Nevada.
OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif., Feb. 15, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On July 10–17, 2023, the Community of Writers will present its annual writers workshops in fiction, nonfiction, and memoir. This year's workshops will feature special guests and celebrated voices in writing, including Alex Espinoza, Robert Hass, Dana Johnson, Michelle Latiolais, and Amy Tan. The workshop will be held at the Community of Writers' home of over 50 years: Olympic Valley in the California Sierra Nevada.
Applications are due March 1, 2023. Writers of fiction, memoir, narrative nonfiction, essays, and hybrid nonfiction forms are invited to apply. Financial aid is available.
The Community of Writers workshops assist serious writers by exploring the art and craft as well as the business of writing. The week-long program includes daily morning workshops, craft lectures, panel discussions on editing and publishing, staff readings, and brief individual conferences. The morning workshops are led by staff writer-teachers, editors, or agents. There are separate morning workshops for Fiction and Narrative Nonfiction/ Memoir.
The Community of Writers is offering several additional opportunities such as a Special Adaptation Class, Open Workshop, Gill Dennis's Finding the Story, and Naturalist-Led Nature Walks.
Admissions are based on submitted manuscript. Tuition is $1600, and includes five evening meals.
The Writers Workshop is preceded by the Community of Writers Poetry Workshop (June 19-25), which will feature staff poets Kazim Ali, Victoria Chang, Forrest Gander, Carmen Giménez, Brenda Hillman and Evie Shockley, along with Special Guests Robert Hass and Sharon Olds.

About the Community of Writers: For 50 summers, the Community of Writers has brought together poets and prose writers for separate weeks of workshops, individual conferences, lectures, panels, readings, and discussions of the craft and the business of writing. In an atmosphere of camaraderie and mutual support, writers receive guidance in refining their craft and moving them closer to achieving their goals. The Community of Writers holds its summer writing workshops in Olympic Valley in the ski lodge at the foot of the ski slopes. Panels, talks, staff readings and workshops take place in these venues with a spectacular view of the mountain.
