Keyway Appoints Chief Business Officer To Expand Real Estate Platform
NEW YORK, NEW YORK (PRWEB) April 24, 2023 -- Keyway, the technology-powered leader in small-scale commercial real estate investing, announced today the addition of Shara Birn to the company’s leadership team as Chief Business Officer after serving as an advisor since 2021. Birn, who has held executive positions in real estate and healthcare during her 20-year career, brings expertise in business development, marketing and investing.
“Keyway is disrupting a sector often overlooked by larger institutional investors due to its high fragmentation and difficult-to-access data,” Birn said. “Keyway is enabling investors to make informed investment decisions and diversify their portfolios while supporting local businesses and communities. As someone who is passionate about promoting equitable and sustainable growth, I am thrilled to join a team that is also committed to prioritizing affordable housing and ESG values. Keyway's mission to increase liquidity and reduce friction in this sector, while having a positive impact on the markets we invest in is inspiring, and I am proud to be a part of it."
Birn has led the real estate and brand development functions for high-growth companies, including One Medical and Cityblock Health and acted as a key advisor to early-stage companies Bond Vet, Kindbody, Reside Health and Modern Age. Earlier in her career, she worked in real estate private equity supporting investment management and acquisitions at Steel Wave (formerly Legacy Partners Commercial). Birn earned her MBA from Stanford University and her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida.
"We are thrilled to have Shara on board in a full-time capacity," Keyway Co-Founder and CEO Matias Recchia said. "Her experience in scaling both real estate platforms and venture-backed companies will help us to further expand our reach as an operator and investor."
As a pioneer in the small-scale commercial real estate market, Keyway is well-positioned to bring institutionalized approaches to this asset class. The company's cutting-edge platform utilizes AI-driven insights to streamline the investment process, creating a marketplace that benefits both investors and small businesses. This approach offers a programmatic way for investors to access small-scale commercial real estate investing, which historically offers stable and profitable investment opportunities.
