Princess De Tshibata Receives a Royal Welcome Upon Returning Back to the Village of Tshibata
Princesse de Tshibata, returns to the Village of Tshibata of Bakwa Kalonji in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) 30 years later to help her childhood village.
NEW YORK, May 30, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On April 3, Adolophine Lukabu Sheeley, Princesse de Tshibata, and Founder of the luxury goods brand Adolophine, returned to Village of Tshibata in the chiefdom of Bakwa Kalonji in Kaisa-Oriental, DRC, for the first time in nearly 30 years. Adolophine's trip included bringing youth equipment and jerseys for three soccer teams, boxing equipment, and gifts to village chiefs.
One way Adolophine is helping her childhood village and the whole DRC achieve this is through the Les Amis de Mulunda et Georgette foundation, a nonprofit organization that fosters sustainable development in the Democratic Republic of Congo with programs focused on entrepreneurship, education, health, agriculture, and the environment to empower communities and improve the quality of life for its members. During her visit, she viewed the health center that the foundation is currently refurbishing and reaffirmed her reason for returning to her village and chiefdom..
"I came back because something greater than me calls me back to help not just orphans but the people of my village and chiefdom. They need us to come back and help rebuild our land. Tshibata was a very powerful chiefdom in those days, and it is ready to take its place back and return to its glory days," says the Princesse de Tshibata
The entire experience was surreal as she danced and sang with the village women, presented traditional gifts to the chiefs, and toured local farms, the Grand Chief's home and the old home of the last chief Mutombo Kashi 5. As is the custom in Tshibata, Adolophine's visit also included a greeting by a local singer.
"It brings us immense pleasure to welcome Adolophine, Princesse de Tshibataback, home to Village Tshibata; her presence and contributions will make a significant impact to the people of Tshibata," states Grand Chief Mao.
Although Adolophine's motivation to return to her childhood village was rooted in altruism for her people, specifically issues facing women, youth and development of the chiefdom, the real reason, Adolophine admits, might be as simple as ancestral pull.
No matter what forces called Adolophine, Princesse de Tshibata, back to her childhood home, she's thankful for the opportunity to walk among her village's people again. In a video clip featured on Wetu TV, Adolophine praises her people, saying, "Thank you all for welcoming me. I'm so excited to be back in Tshibata, finally. I've dreamt about it for so long; finally, the day is here. I'm here to see you all in person, hear you and your concerns, and see how we can help our kingdom. Even though I'm far, you never forget your roots, and I'm glad you have welcomed me back in the land of my ancestors."
