American Tinnitus Association Announces Resignation of CEO
VIENNA, Va. (PRWEB) July 16, 2023 -- Torryn Brazell, CAE, CFRE, chief executive officer of the American Tinnitus Association (ATA), is leaving her position after six years of dedicated service to the nonprofit organization that exclusively serves the tinnitus community. Following the resignation, the ATA Board of Directors has embarked on a comprehensive search for new executive leadership.
Based on support from members, donors, and foundations, the ATA empowers thousands of individuals and families by supplying credible information on evidence-based interventions and coping tools, provides invaluable guidance in locating qualified healthcare providers, funds critical research, advocates for improved care, and delivers trustworthy information daily.
“After six and a half years of leading the ATA, I am stepping down as the CEO,” Brazell said. “It has been a true pleasure to serve the association.”
“We deeply appreciate Torryn’s commitment to the ATA and to the cause of helping those with tinnitus across the country,” said David Hadley, the past chair of the ATA Board of Directors. “She leaves us in position with a bright future ahead for the organization and genuine hope for developing more effective tinnitus treatments and advancing progress toward possible cures.”
During Brazell’s tenure, she worked with volunteer leaders, healthcare providers, researchers, and the tinnitus patient community to expand the organization’s programs and services. Among those innovations was the Tinnitus Advisors Program, which consists of audiologists well versed in tinnitus management providing immediate guidance to callers to the ATA’s dedicated phone line. The ATA also recently launched Tinnitus Health, a free digital resource and globally accessible educational newsletter that offers the latest in tinnitus news, research, and patient support information. In addition, Conversations in Tinnitus was started as an open-access podcast that showcases prominent researchers and provides discussion on advances in research, credible treatments, and other topics of interest to the tinnitus community.
Under Brazell’s leadership, the ATA partnered with Texas Roadhouse to significantly expand awareness and prevention of tinnitus as well as raise funds for much-needed research. Brazell also revamped the research grant funding application process.
