TuneCore, the leading development partner for self-releasing artists—owned by Believe, one of the global leading digital music companies—has announced that it will now accept local payments in the Netherlands through iDEAL, the leading online payment method in the region. By offering localized payment options, TuneCore is working to eliminate the unique roadblocks faced by independent artists in their local markets and make it easier for them to distribute their music globally.
iDEAL provides a fast, secure, and convenient bank-to-bank transfer process for users in the Netherlands, and is responsible for 70% of online transactions in the region. This is part of TuneCore’s ongoing mission to expand payment options around the world and ease transactions for self-releasing artists.
Andreea Gleeson, CEO, TuneCore commented, “As TuneCore’s international presence continues to expand, we are working to support and empower independent artists worldwide, and in order to do that, we have to start locally. By expanding our payment options to reflect the needs of each local market, we aim to provide a smoother transaction process that will allow artists to access TuneCore’s services with fewer barriers.”
Nikolaas De Belie, Head of Believe & TuneCore, Benelux said, “iDEAL is the preeminent payment method in the Netherlands for safe and secure online transactions. By localizing payment options to include trusted, convenient and ubiquitous payment platforms like iDEAL, we are reinforcing our commitment to providing an artist-friendly platform for career development in the region.”
In the coming months, TuneCore will continue to roll out expanded payment options in additional countries and regions. In 2022, TuneCore achieved the milestone of $3 billion earned by artists since the company’s inception in 2006, reinforcing its status as the world’s highest paying distribution service for self-releasing artists.
