Former State of Florida Senior International Trade Official Brings Decades of Experience and Vast Global Network to Miami’s Leading Trade Organization

World Trade Center Miami(WTCM), Miami’s preeminent trade organization promoting two-way trade which connects small and medium-sized businesses to the global marketplace, has elected Manuel (“Manny”) Mencia as Chair of its Board of Directors, and announced its complete 2023 WTCM Board of Directors.

Mr. Mencia is one of Florida’s most experienced and respected senior international trade leaders, and most recently served for 25 years as Senior Vice President, International Trade and Development for Enterprise Florida, the state’s public-private economic development partnership. He has worked directly with four Florida governors, including the late Governor Lawton Chiles, former Governor Jeb Bush, former Governor Charlie Crist, former Governor (now U.S. Senator) Rick Scott, and Governor Ron DeSantis.

WTCM’s vision is for Miami to become widely recognized as one of the indispensable centers for trade and commerce globally. In addition to the vital role WTCM plays in facilitating trade, the organization also produces world-class events such as the Americas Food and Beverage Show and Conference, The Air Cargo Americas Show, and Supply Chain Americas Conference, which collectively bring together tens of thousands of businesses from around the world.

“We are thrilled to have someone of Manny’s stature and expertise serve as Board Chair for World Trade Center Miami,” said Ivan Barrios, WTCM President & CEO.

“Together with our newly installed Board of Directors, Manny’s leadership will help further elevate our organization and open up new opportunities for World Trade Center Miami to serve our vibrant and diverse business community,” added Mr. Barrios.

“I am honored to be elected Chair of World Trade Center Miami given its role as the leading trade organization in Miami and the positive impact WTCM has on our community,” said Mr. Mencia.

“I’ve devoted my entire career to helping to build bridges between people as a way to harness the human spirit and facilitate prosperity for communities. Working with Ivan and the entire WTCM team will be a capstone for me and I’m energized to contribute during my term as Chair,” added Mr. Mencia.
