Northrop Rice USA Inc., a recognized leader in aviation maintenance education, has announced they will continue their highly successful Aviation Basics program in 2023. Developed in partnership with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters through an FAA Workforce development grant, the Aviation Basics program provides an opportunity for individuals to become qualified for entry level positions at manufacturing, MRO, airline and repair facilities. The full-time program lasts approximately 8 weeks and covers topics such as tools, safety, regulations, electrical, structures, hydraulics, materials, corrosion control, and human factors.
“Our program is focused on introducing more individuals to the aviation maintenance/manufacturing industry through basic foundation training,” says Cathy Landry, President of Northrop Rice, “Aviation Basics is designed specifically for those with minimal or no experience and focuses on building mechanical aptitude in basic maintenance operations. Eligibility for this program is for any individual seeking entry level work in aviation maintenance, manufacturing, or a related field.”
Located on the Ellington Airport/Houston Spaceport campus, Northrop Rice supports the Houston Airport System’s vision to support general training skills and build a world-class aviation and aerospace workforce in the Greater Houston Area.

A mix of online, classroom and shop training, the Aviation Basics course enhances educational opportunities for a diverse group of candidates to secure minimal skills and knowledge for a maintenance position in aviation as well as other technical skill industries.
